Man Arrested On Battery Charges
Staff Report
PIERCETON — A man was arrested after allegedly battering two people.
Christian Taylor Miller, 26, South Bend, is charged with two counts of battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, both level 6 felonies.
On May 18, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a battery report in Pierceton. The deputy spoke with a man, who said Miller was agitated and broke a plastic trash can into several pieces.
According to court documents, when the man approached Miller to prevent any further damage, Miller took a broken plastic piece from the trash can and began slashing and flailing his arm at him. The man was knocked to the floor and Miller allegedly hit the man with the plastic piece, causing lacerations on his forehead and right wrist. The deputy noticed a laceration on the man’s wrist and forehead.
The deputy then spoke with a woman who intervened in the altercation with the man and Miller. She said Miller grabbed a large handful of her hair, pulling the hair out. Miller then released the woman and kicked her in the chest. The deputy noticed a large handful of the woman’s hair had been pulled out and the woman described her chest as having red abrasions.
Miller said he threw a trash can into the walls and told people to get away from him. He told the deputy that when the people still approached, he tried to hurt a couple of them because he was scared of their intentions.
Miller has already been arrested and released on his own recognizance.
