MIDDLEBURY – Seven candidates running for statewide office are expected to attend a town hall event at Northridge High School in Middlebury on Wednesday, July 6.
The collection includes candidates running as Democrats and Libertarians, according to Act Nappanee Wakarusa, the organizers of the event.
This event is open to the public and will begin at 5:30 in the Northridge High School Auditorium, 56779 Northridge Drive, in Middlebury.
The candidates will be Tom McDermott, Democratic Party candidate for US Senate; James Sceniak, Libertarian Party candidate for US Senate; Paul Steury, Democratic Party candidate for US House of Representatives (District 2); Destiny Wells, Democratic Party candidate for Indiana Secretary of State; Jeff Maurer, Libertarian Party candidate for Indiana Secretary of State; ZeNai Brooks, Democratic Party candidate for Indiana State Treasurer; and Jessica McClellan, Democratic Party candidate for Indiana State Auditor.
All political parties (Democrat, Republican, Libertarian) were invited to send their candidates as speakers at these town halls. Candidates from the Indiana Republican Party were also invited to take part in the town hall, but they declined to join for “partisan reasons,” the news release said.
There is no set theme for the town halls, notes Chad Crabtree, Chairman of the Elkhart County Democratic Party, sponsor of this event in Middlebury. “We want to invite everyone at this event to have the opportunity to express their concerns about the kitchen table issues that are important to them and their families.”
