Man Arrested After Not Returning To Work Release
Staff Report
WARSAW — A Warsaw man who failed to return to the Kosciusko County work release center in late June has been found and arrested.
Cody Michael Pope, 29, 2605 E. Center St., Warsaw, is charged with failure to return to lawful detention, a level 6 felony.
On Nov. 5, 2021, Pope was sentenced in a Carroll County case. On Feb. 11, 2022, Pope was approved for a transfer to the Kosciusko County work release program to execute his sentence, with a calculated release date of Jan. 28, 2023.
Around 3 a.m. June 23, Pope checked out of the Kosciusko County work release center to travel to work at a business in New Paris.
According to court documents, Pope did not check back into the work release center once completing work on June 23. His normal return time was 1:15 p.m. after completing his regular work day.
Work release officers searched the facility and confirmed that Pope did not return to work release. Law enforcement also attempted to make contact with Pope, who did not respond to communications.
A press release was then issued by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office on June 24, seeking the public’s assistance in finding Pope.
Pope was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on July 20, with a $10,250 surety and cash bond.
