Silver Lake Lions Donate Supplies to Claypool Elementary
News Release
WARSAW — Warsaw Community Schools is thanking Silver Lake Lions Club for their generous donation to students at Claypool Elementary School.
Nichole Taylor, Angel McGlennen, Mia Smith and Lynda Schuster presented the donation.
Nichole Taylor explained, “Over $2,000 was donated by local businesses. We’d like to thank Silver Lake Lions Club; Shankster Brothers; Silver Lake Police Department; Metzger Trucking; Sommer’s Vet Clinic; Splendor Boat; Lakeview Liquors; Subway Of Silver Lake; Igloo; Par-Kan; Silver Lake Ag; Silver Lake Small Animal Vet Clinic; Town Of Silver Lake; Lake City Bank Of Silver Lake; Hohman Excavating; Someplace Else Saloon — Claypool; Packerton Landfill; Cruise Towing; Silver Inn; and Complete Fleet. The donation from these businesses and individuals was spent on 100 new book bags and school supplies that were first distributed at the Silver Lake Lions Club during a free kids bingo event on July 9. The extra supplies from that event were donated to Claypool Elementary students. We all understand how challenging it is for families with rising inflation, so Silver Lake Lions Club partnered with local businesses to show how much our community cares.”
Silver Lake Lions Club also announced that they will donated a check for $150 to support the Nurturing Knights Fund which was established by a former nurse, Julie Reed. This fund is used to assist students and/or families who may be facing hardship.
Claypool principal Missy Rees added, “Other donations have also come in from Medtronic in conjunction with the Kids in Need Foundation. Combined Community Services recently provided new back-to-school supplies too. Claypool Elementary is thankful for the generosity of so many groups, businesses and individuals. Families are welcome to call the school at (574) 566-2300 if your child needs back-to-school supplies.”
All elementary schools will host their Back-to-School Night from 4-5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11. This is an opportunity for families to pick up and drop off school supplies and meet their teachers.
Warsaw Community Schools looks forward to welcoming students back Monday, Aug. 15, 2022, which is a Late Start day.
