Area Accident Reports
Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 12:32 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, West Crystal Lake Road, west of North CR 650W, Warsaw. Driver: Abbigayle R. Miller, 23, East Walnut Street, Akron. Miller was traveling west on Crystal Lake Road when an animal entered the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
- 8:04 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, North CR 200E, north of East Armstrong Road, Leesburg. Drivers: Steven J. George, 26, North CR 175E 150, Warsaw; and Leanna J. Wiggs, 37, North Indiana Street, Pierceton. George was turning left onto East Armstrong Road when he did not see Wiggs’ vehicle, resulting in a head-on collision. Damage up to $5,000.
- 6:46 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, East SR 14, east of South County Farm Road, Silver Lake. Driver: Daniel J. Hunter, 68, North CR 800W, Roann. Hunter was traveling east on East SR 14 when a deer entered the roadway, hitting the driver’s side mirror of Hunter’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
- 3:17 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, West Emeline Street, west of South Maple Street, Milford. Drivers: Talan M. Longmire, 16, East Shady Lane, Syracuse; and Angela R. Hillery, 47, East CR 225S 26, Winona Lake. Longmire’s vehicle rear-ended a school bus being driven by Hillery. Damage up to $5,000.
North Webster
Officers with the North Webster Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 6:36 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, East CR 500N, east of EMS T8 Lane, Leesburg. Drivers: Jerry A. Goshorn, 57, Constance Avenue, Fort Wayne; and Jeff A. Hire, 65, Singer Road, North Manchester. Goshorn was traveling east on CR 500N when he failed to yield to Hire’s vehicle, which was yielding to make a right turn into a driveway. Goshorn complained of right arm pain and was taken to a local hospital. Damage up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 9:52 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, 3358 Lake City Highway, Warsaw. Driver: unknown. A witness said a white Chevrolet truck was turning left in a drive-thru line when their vehicle hit an electrical box and speaker in the area of Arby’s. The driver of the Chevrolet truck left the scene and their identity is unknown at this time. Damage up to $2,500.
- 12:37 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, 315 N. Detroit St., Warsaw. Drivers: Andrew I. Bolinger, 26, East Center Street, Warsaw; and Cassondra K. Hilty, 33, CR 3, Nappanee. Bolinger was attempting to leave a drive-thru line when he hit Hilty’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
- 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 524 E. Market St., Warsaw. Driver: unknown. A vehicle registered to Ronald M. Cone, Warsaw, was parked and unoccupied at 524 E. Market St. when it sustained damage from an unknown driver. The vehicle sustained sideswipe damage. No security cameras are in that area to assist in officers’ investigation of the accident. Damage up to $10,000.
- 11:34 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, SR 15, near East Winona Avenue, Warsaw. Drivers: Devora N. Perez Bernard, 26, West CR 250S 54, Warsaw; and Charles A. Herr, 41, East High Street, Atwood. Perez Bernard was traveling south on SR 15 and was making a left turn onto East Winona Avenue when she hit Herr’s vehicle. Herr said he had a green light at the time of the accident. Herr complained of back pain following the accident but refused treatment at the scene. Damage up to $10,000.
Winona Lake
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 11:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, 1200 Kings Highway, Winona Lake. Driver: Jason M. Banghart, 46, East CR 300N, Warsaw. Banghart was traveling south in a parking lot when he hit a parked, unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
