WARSAW — The Kosciusko County Alcohol and Tobacco Commission addressed an alcoholic beverage permit renewal for Port Winona LLC during a Sept. 1 meeting.

The permit is being handled by representatives for the estate of Jim Zachary, one of Port Winona’s former owners who passed away in August 2021. Daniel Zachary, Jim’s father, attended the meeting as an estate representative, alongside Haley Zachary, Jim’s daughter.

Daniel said he and Haley are interested in transferring Jim’s permit to Haley.

The permit currently active at Port Winona on Canal Street in Winona Lake is a new permit owned by Alexis and Janet Vanosdol.

State Excise Officer April Tackett said Daniel would have to fill out an escrow form since the permit currently has no active business address, as well as paperwork for a transfer of ownership. Tackett agreed to help Daniel on addressing the required paperwork.

The board approved the renewal for Port Winona LLC, with the understanding that the permit would be placed in escrow and potentially transferred to Haley.

The following permits were also approved for renewal by the board:

• Aldi (Indiana) L.P., doing business as Aldi #38, 945 N. Parker St., Warsaw. Beer and wine dealer – grocery store.
• Bar 13, 131 N. First St., Pierceton. Beer, wine and liquor – restaurant.
• Boathouse Restaurant, 700 Park Ave., Winona Lake. Beer, wine and liquor – restaurant.
• The Bulldog Saloon, 101 E. Main St., Mentone. Beer, wine and liquor – restaurant.
• Dolgencorp LLC, doing business as Dollar General Store #19834, 8919 E. Black Point Road, Syracuse. Beer and wine dealer – grocery store.
• Dolgencorp LLC, doing business as Dollar General Store #20445, 4739 N. SR 13, Leesburg. Beer and wine dealer – grocery store.
• EMME Designs, doing business as Board and Brush Warsaw, 210 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw. Wine retailer – restaurant.
• Family Express Corporation, doing business as Family Express #79, 109 W. State St., Etna Green. Beer and wine dealer – grocery store.
• Fortune 1 LLC, 2519 E. Center St., Warsaw. Beer, wine and liquor – hotel.
• Freeland Enterprises Inc., doing business as Pizza Hut, 3314 Lake City Highway, Warsaw. Beer and wine retailer – restaurant.
• Spike’s Inc., doing business as Spike’s Beach Grill, 310 Eastlake Drive, Warsaw. Beer, wine and liquor – restaurant.
• V.F.W. #1126, 1350 W. Center St., Warsaw. Beer, wine and liquor – fraternal club.

The local ATC board’s next meeting will be held at the Kosciusko County Courthouse at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6.
