Gary W. Gray Sr.
Gary W. Gray Sr., 68, Rochester, died at 8:59 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital of Indianapolis.
Gary was born Jan. 4, 1954, in Wabash, to Toby and Susie (Lester) Miller. He was then raised by Robert and Norma (Miller) Gray. He married on July 20, in Louisville, Ky., to Carolyn J. Ramsey; she survives.
He was a 1973 graduate of North Manchester High School. Gary was a welder for 30 years for Markhan and Ameri-kan. He then worked for Zimmer Biomet as a lab tech, retiring in February 2020. He was a member of the Lincoln Lodge 523 of Macy. Earlier in life, he attended the Wesleyan Church of Laketon. He was proud to be one quarter Miami Indian and enjoyed researching his lineage. Gary’s passions were Notre Dame Football, mushroom hunting and singing. He also loved photography, especially capturing nature. He could see and capture things others couldn’t. But most of all his ultimate passion was his family, children, grandchildren and his friends.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Gray, Rochester; children Heather Gomez, North Manchester, Gary (Nicole) Gray Jr., Canton, Ohio and Candace Diaz, Warsaw; grandchildren, Alejandra, Diego, Jordan, Dillan (Mariah), Devan (Katie), Daltan, Daytan and Delayna; great-grandson Kyle; brothers Phillip (Denise) Troxell, Walton and Ralph (Peggy) Brooke, Columbia City; and a sister Monica Krodel, Germany.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David Miller.
A private family service was held at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron.
