New Pediatrician Joins Parkview Whitley
News Release
COLUMBIA CITY — Parkview Physicians Group – Pediatrics has welcomed a second pediatrician in Columbia City. Andrew Piropato, MD, has joined Mark Rohaus, MD, at the pediatrics office on the Parkview Whitley Hospital campus.
Fort Wayne native, Piropato returns to northeast Indiana from Saint Paul, Minnesota, where he completed his pediatric residency at the University of Minnesota. He received his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine.
He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association.
“It’s wonderful to have Dr. Piropato join us in Whitley County so families have even better access to expert, compassionate care options close to home for their kids,” said Scott Gabriel, PWH president. “His enthusiasm and energy will reassure children and parents alike. I have no doubt they will find him an excellent partner in healthcare.”
For his undergraduate studies, Piropato attended the University of Indianapolis, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry, graduating magna cum laude.
During medical school at IU, he oversaw a student outreach clinic in a medically underserved area of the city, was part of the team preparing the medical school for reaccreditation and participated in a summer research program at the University of Colorado Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes in Aurora, Colorado.
Although he began his career with two years as a drug research scientist for Albany Molecular Research, Inc., a contractor for Eli Lilly & Co. in Indianapolis, ultimately, Piropato chose to pursue the hands-on practice of medicine, specifically pediatrics.
“In my opinion, there is nothing more rewarding — and no greater privilege — than working with children and families,” says Piropato. “The boundless joy and resilience of children made it easy for me to choose pediatrics.”
As a father of two, Piropato is in his element working with young patients.
“I love caring for children of all ages, and in both good and challenging times,” he says. “Right now, I especially enjoy working with teenagers and their families. I strive to be present for my patients, listen carefully to their concerns, and partner with their families in improving each child’s health.”
Piropato is looking forward to becoming a trusted health partner for Columbia City families.
“After moving away for medical school and residency training, my wife and I wanted to return to northeast Indiana to serve our home community,” he says. “She’s a physical therapist. Being able to practice in Columbia City was extremely appealing for me because I get to provide full-spectrum pediatric care to an amazing community, and it is close to family.”
Away from the office, Piropato keeps busy with his young family, visiting state and national parks to go hiking and camping and generally spending time together outdoors. In addition, he enjoys running and cooking.
Dr. Piropato is now welcoming new patients. To schedule an appointment, call (260) 248-9920. His office is located at 1270 East SR 205, Suite 230, Columbia City.
