WARSAW — Here are three political updates as the General Election approaches on Tuesday, Nov. 8.

GOP Candidate Meet-N-Greet

The Kosciusko County Republican Party is organizing a meet and greet for four state lawmakers.

The Monday, Oct. 24, event at Stacy’s restaurant in Leesburg begins at 6 p.m.

Those expected to participate are State Sens. Ryan Mishler and Stacey Donato and State Reps. Craig Snow and David Abbott.

The event is open to the public.

McConnell Fundraiser

Travis McConnell, a candidate for Kosciusko County prosecutor, hosted a fundraiser for Bikers Against Predators, a local group that works to put a spotlight on child molesters. While most candidates raise money for their own campaign, the event on Saturday, Oct. 8, at HopLore in Leesburg, was geared to help the watchdog group.

The event featured a chili cook-off and was promoted as Chili Palooza.

Bikers Against Predators began less than two years ago and provides documented evidence of child solicitation to police.

McConnell said they were able to raise $2,000 for the group and exactly $420 for Indiana Normal, which advocates for legalizing cannabis.

McConnell, a Democrat, faces Republican Brad Voelz.

US Senate Debate

Three candidates running for U.S. Senate will participate in a debate Sunday night, Oct. 16.

The debate includes the incumbent Todd Young who faces Democrat Thomas McDermott Jr. and Libertarian James Sceniak.

The debate starts at at 7 p.m. and is hosted by the Indiana Debate Commission.

The debate commission will broadcast the event on its website.
