WARSAW — Several Lutheran EMS staff have recently completed a 16-week course for Mobile Integrated Health.
Alicia Mediano, Lutheran EMS, presented this update to Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory’s board during a Nov. 1 meeting.
According to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security’s website, MIH is a “patient-centered model of care delivered in a patient’s home or in a mobile environment. Community paramedics can visit patients at their home and assist with health screenings, vaccinations, treatments and follow-ups.”
Mediano compared MIH to the county’s Community Assistance, Resources and Emergency Services program, in that MIH works to bridge gaps within medical health, particularly between in-patient and out-patient care.
“During the month of September, we actually started our (MIH) program and are very excited to have that up and running,” said Mediano. “Throughout the month of October, we’ve continued to grow that program.”
In other business, the board approved a fee agreement and employment letter for 2022 legal services provided by Beers Mallers LLP through WWFT Attorney Andrew Grossnickle. All rates and fees remain the same. Grossnickle and WWFT Chief Garrett Holderman said the agreement was overlooked when Holderman took over as chief.
The agreement will now go before the city’s Board of Public Works and Safety for approval on Friday, Nov. 4.
The board’s next meeting is at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6.
