UPDATE: Police Say McDonald’s Stabbing Suspect Was Found In Vacant Home
Press Release
WARSAW — The Warsaw man who allegedly stabbed a person at a McDonald’s in Warsaw was found in a vacant residence, along with several knives on his person.
According to a press release from Warsaw Police Department, on Nov. 8, central dispatch received multiple tips as to the whereabouts of John E. Robinson, 48, Warsaw. Robinson was being sought as a person of interest in a Nov. 7 stabbing incident at the Detroit Street McDonald’s location.
These tips from the community led officers to a vacant residence around South Union Street and West Winona Avenue. WPD, assisted by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, searched the immediate area and found a vacant residence at 417 S. Union St. that matched the description left by tipsters. Officers suspected the residence’s front door had been forced to gain entry and located an opened back door, leading them to search the vacant residence.
Robinson was found hiding in a closet and arrested without incident. On his person, officers found a folding knife as well as a fixed blade knife. Furthermore, another folding knife was found in his personal property inside the home.
Robinson was arrested on Nov. 8 for a preliminary charge of residential entry, a level 6 felony. A prosecutor’s hold from the Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office was placed on Robinson for the active stabbing investigation. Contact was later made with the property owner for 417 S. Union St., and it was confirmed no one had been given permission to enter the residence.
