Medical Director Named At Goshen Center For Cancer Care

GOSHEN — Urs von Holzen, MD, MBA, FACS, has been appointed medical director at Goshen Center for Cancer Care. He oversees quality performance standards and guides strategic planning, growth and development for the cancer center.
“We are grateful for the willingness and vision of von Holzen to take on this important leadership role,” said Randy Christophel, Goshen Health president and CEO. “His guidance will continue to shape the integrative approach that distinguishes our cancer center from others in the region.”
von Holzen is fellowship trained in surgical oncology and thoracic surgery. He joined Goshen Center for Cancer Care in 2014 and specializes in minimally invasive thoracic and abdominal surgical procedures. von Holzen continues his clinical practice in surgical oncology and retains his leadership role on committees at the cancer center and Goshen Hospital.
“We are dedicated to serving a greater population of patients in our region, moving forward with research and delivering the best possible outcomes,” said von Holzen. “It is an honor to lead this unique program and a team with the expertise and skills to take on cases most medical centers in this area cannot do.”
The Center for Cancer Care offers the region’s only dedicated team of medical, radiation and surgical oncologists and integrative care providers under one roof. It has one of the largest teams of fellowship trained surgical oncologists in Indiana.
von Holzen received a doctor of medicine from the University of Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland. He received advanced training during a fellowship in surgical oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia, Pa. von Holzen also completed a fellowship in advanced minimally invasive thoracic surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Mass.
von Holzen earned a business of medicine master of business administration from Indiana University, Indianapolis.
