Bonnie Faye Whitaker
Bonnie Faye Hurd Whitaker, 78, Warsaw, died at 4:14 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw.
She was born March 3, 1944, in Denver, Ky., to Bethel (Hitchcock) Blair and Harlan Blair Jr. Bonnie was married on Dec. 20, 1964, to Jo Ed Hurd; they shared 38 years of marriage together before he died Feb. 4, 2003. Bonnie was blessed to share her life again with someone special and married Grover T. Whitaker on Aug. 7, 2009. He preceded her in death Feb. 2, 2012.
Bonnie worked for many years in the assembly department at Controls in North Manchester. Her real full-time job that she loved the most was simply being a mom. Later in life, she relished becoming a grandmother and great-grandmother multiple times. Bonnie was a godly woman and loved the fellowship of her church family as a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County. She always enjoyed reading, especially the word of God, and the pages of her Bible felt the touch of her hands many times over the years. Bonnie had a servant’s heart and never knew a stranger. Her home was always open to anyone to enjoy her hospitality. More than anything, she loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and a friend to many. Bonnie would most want to be remembered for her steadfast faith in her Savior Jesus Christ and is now whole again in Heaven.
She leaves behind two daughters, Samantha (Terry) Bradford, Silver Lake and Velia (Ray) Grosch, Rochester; two sons, Christopher (Geri) Hurd, Warsaw and Faron Hurd, Warsaw; stepdaughter, Debra (William F.) Bleak, Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are five brothers, Jackie (Pat) Blair, Urbana, Ohio, Jimmy (Beulah) Blair, Urbana, Ohio, Timothy Blair, Urbana, Ohio, Jerry (Belinda) Blair, Martin, Ky. and David (Gladys) Blair, Denver, Ky.; five sisters, Jean (David) Spear, Urbana, Ohio, Janie Auxier, Hager Hill, Ky., Tenia Ratliff, Denver, Ky., Teresa Lynn (David) VanHoose, Denver, Ky. and Lisa Ann (Keith) Murry, Meally, Ky.; and a sister-in-law, Carol Blair, Urbana, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands; brother, Billy; one great-grandson; and two brothers-in-law, Leroy and Charlie.
