Staff Report
PIERCETON — Two people from Pierceton were arrested after a domestic incident.
Amanda Kay Patrick, 33, 4113 E. 100S, Pierceton, is charged with domestic battery with a child under 16 present and strangulation, both level 6 felonies; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
Charles Lynn Renschler, 44, 111 N. Fourth St., Pierceton, is charged with domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Sept. 30, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a domestic complaint at a Pierceton residence. Upon arrival at the scene, Renschler told the deputy Patrick battered him. He said the two were having a verbal argument when Patrick allegedly became aggressive, pushed him, and grabbed his throat.
According to court documents, Renschler said Patrick told two of the children who were at the home to say Renschler battered her. The deputy noticed lacerations and abrasions on Renschler’s face and neck.
Patrick told the deputy Renschler became aggressive and physically bumped his body into hers. She said Renschler then pushed her, causing her to lose her balance and hit her face on a door. He also kneed her in the stomach three times.
The deputy spoke with three children in the home at the time of the incident. Two of the children said they heard yelling and the sounds of a physical fight. They also witnessed Renschler push Patrick and knee her in the stomach.
Renschler said Patrick removed a security camera in the home prior to the deputy’s arrival, which Patrick admitted to.
For this case, Renschler was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Dec. 1, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
Patrick has already been arrested and released on bond. She has an initial hearing at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, in Kosciusko Superior Court Three.
