Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 7:03 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, North CR 150W, south of West CR 400N, Warsaw. Driver: Jose M. Sarabia, 47, West Center Street, Warsaw. Sarabia lost control of his vehicle on the icy roadway. It went off the road and hit a pole and later went into a pond. Damage up to $10,000.
- 7 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, North SR 15, north of West CR 1350N, Milford. Driver: Jeremy D. Pressler, 51, CR 44, Millersburg. Pressler’s vehicle hit an icy patch and it went off and hit a guard rail. Damage up to $10,000.
- 4:55 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, North SR 15, north of West CR 1350N, Milford. Drivers: Darrin J. Karsner, 20, Warsaw; and Rafael L. Lopez-Gomez, 34, North Main Street, Milford; and Ana G. Melendrez Hernandez, 28, East Levi Lee Road, Warsaw. An accident occurred in front of Lopez-Gomez’s vehicle. He yielded for it, and Karsner’s vehicle couldn’t stop in time on the icy road behind his. Karsner’s vehicle hit Lopez-Gomez’s, causing Lopez-Gomez’s vehicle to hit a guard rail. A spare tire from one of the vehicles hit Melendrez Hernandez’s vehicle. Damage up to $50,000.
- 7:34 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, West CR 400N and North CR 500W, Warsaw. Driver: Jacob M. Semonis, 26, North CR 700W, Warsaw. Semonis’ vehicle hit a deer. Damage up to $5,000.
- 5:54 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, North CR 100E, south of East CR 250N, Warsaw. Drivers: Martha E. Mayer, 79, EMS C28 Lane, Warsaw; and unknown. Mayer’s vehicle hit the back of an unknown vehicle, which didn’t stop. Damage up to $5,000.
- 7:16 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, East Old Road 30, east of North SR 13, Pierceton. Driver: Brian A. Hansen, 60, West CR 350S, Kimmell. Hansen’s vehicle hit a deer. Damage up to $2,500.
- 6 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, North SR 13, south of North Nash Drive, Syracuse. Driver: Stacy L. Hammel, 55, East Promontory Point Drive, Syracuse. Hammel’s vehicle hit a deer. Damage up to $5,000.
- 2:50 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, East SR 14, east of South SR 13, Claypool. Driver: Richard L. Kauffman, 64, CR 52, New Paris. Kauffman’s vehicle went off the road slightly, causing it to then go off the road and roll onto its side. Kauffman was transported to the hospital for medical attention. Damage up to $25,000.
Mentone
Officers with the Mentone Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 1:25 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 202 W. Main St., Mentone. Driver: Jane E. Teel, 76, North CR 900E, Mentone. Teel’s vehicle hit a parked vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
Pierceton
Officers with the Pierceton Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 7:33 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, Pierceton Road, west of Washington Road, Pierceton. Driver: Christopher A. Borton, 29, East CR 225S, Winona Lake. Borton’s vehicle hit a deer. Damage up to $10,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 4:38 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, 206 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Drivers: Madelyne E. Bradley, 23, EMS W17 Lane, North Webster; and Bobby R. Herrick, 35, Railside Drive, Syracuse. Bradley was backing up her vehicle and hit Herrick’s with hers. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 8:43 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, U.S. 30 and Springhill Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Stephanie D. Kneller, 49, Thornbriar Lane, Fort Wayne; and Robert L. Nolan, 48, Walkers Ridge, Warsaw. Kneller turned into the path of Nolan’s vehicle. Nolan was taken to the hospital. Damage up to $25,000.
Winona Lake
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 3:31 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, Pierceton Road and South CR 250E, Winona Lake. Drivers: Teresa Y. Peters, 61, East Pierceton Road, Pierceton; and Megan M. Davis, 32, East Pierceton Road, Warsaw. Peters said she hadn’t been sleeping well. She fell asleep and her vehicle went fast and over a roundabout and hit Davis’ vehicle. Damage up to $100,000.
Elkhart County
Officers with Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accident:

4:48 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, SR 119, east of SR 19, Nappanee. Driver: Xavier Rodrigues Perez, 22, Nappanee. Rodrigues Perez attempted to pass another vehicle while eastbound on SR 119 but lost control and ran off the roadway. The vehicle struck a fence, causing it to roll several times. Rodrigues Perez was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and was cited for unreasonable speeds for weather conditions and unsafe lane movement.
