03Staff Report
SILVER LAKE — A Silver Lake man faces multiple charges after a vehicle pursuit ended with a vehicle hitting a vacant home.
Jason Conrad Honeycutt, 41, 816 N. Roosevelt St., Silver Lake, is charged with possession of methamphetamine and resisting law enforcement, both level 6 felonies; resisting law enforcement and sentence enhancement possession of paraphernalia, both class A misdemeanors; failure to stop after an accident, a class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia and reckless driving, both class C misdemeanors.
On Dec. 9, a Silver Lake Police officer was patrolling when he saw a black Chevrolet Camaro with a driver’s door window tint that appeared to be in violation of Indiana law. The officer then attempted to pull the Camaro’s driver over after noticing the driver failed to signal a turn.
According to court documents, the vehicle accelerated to a high rate of speed and the driver failed to yield to the officer. The Camaro then disregarded a stop sign and hit a vacant home on West Myrtle Glen Road.
The driver, later identified as Honeycutt, immediately exited the vehicle and fled on foot. About one block after the foot pursuit started, Honeycutt tripped and fell to the ground.
Upon searching Honeycutt, the officer found a glass smoking device with methamphetamine residue. Two other people were in the Camaro during the pursuit and refused medical treatment at the scene.
Honeycutt was evaluated by medical personnel and was then taken into custody.
Honeycutt has already been arrested and released on his own recognizance. He has an initial hearing at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, in Kosciusko Circuit Court.
