WINONA LAKE — Freedom Rider Charles Person is to speak as part of Grace College’s celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy.
The public is welcome to hear Person speak during the college’s chapel starting at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center.
Person previously spoke in Kosciusko County as part of the community Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration in 2016 and at Warsaw Community Schools. As a Freedom Rider in the 1960s, he traveled via bus with a mixed race group in the South to protest racial segregation on the public transportation system there.
Grace will also honor King by once again allowing students and staff to have Monday, Jan. 16, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, off to celebrate King’s legacy.
