WARSAW — A Silver Lake man was recently arrested after allegedly hitting a child and breaking into a home.
Brandon John Bullington, 28, 202 Herendeen St., Silver Lake, is charged with residential entry and domestic battery to a person less than 14 years of age by a person at least 18 years of age, both level 6 felonies; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Jan. 3, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a report of a man breaking into a Warsaw residence through a window.
The deputy spoke with a woman at the home. According to court documents, the woman said she was asleep when she heard someone, later identified as Bullington, knocking on her residence’s front door.
The woman refused to let Bullington into the residence; Bullington then went to a different area of the home’s exterior and entered without permission. The woman said she knew Bullington but that he wasn’t acting like himself.
The deputy noticed shoe marks on the outside of the residence, near a window where Bullington entered the home.
The deputy then went to speak with one of Bullington’s relatives. The relative said she woke up to Bullington turning on all the gas knobs on a stove, with natural gas pouring out.
Bullington then allegedly swung his arms around and hit a child who was in the home in the head. The deputy noticed a small knot with swelling and slight bruising on the right side of the child’s forehead.
Burlington told the deputy he thought he was living a dream during the incident and was unsure of what occurred.
Bullington was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Jan. 3, with a $6,000 surety and cash bond.
