WARSAW — The Lab, 120 E. Center St., Suite A, Warsaw, was awarded a $2,500 Main Street Warsaw facade grant at a presentation Friday, Jan. 20.
Main Street Warsaw administers a facade grant program that is funded by the city of Warsaw. Qualified applicants may obtain matching grant funds up to a maximum of $5,000 for facades, storefronts, awnings and signs, depending on the scope of the work.
Since 2003, more than $333,800 in matching grant funds have been distributed among downtown restaurants and shops.
The Lab owner Lyle Schrock said they painted the front of the building, which took up the whole grant. The work was finished by the end of October. The paint job was done to give the business a more professional and updated look as the paint was about 15 years old.
The Lab also ended up sealing some of the windows.
He said he hopes the updates bring his business and downtown Warsaw up to modern day colors and refreshes them and have a better look and feel to them. He also hopes the new look will bring more exposure to the business.
The Lab has been around five years and repairs electronics, mainly cellphones and computers, he said.
