JoAnn ‘Jo’ Adkins — UPDATED
JoAnn “Jo” Adkins, 70, Warsaw, died at 3:23 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023, at Paddock Springs Assisted Living Facility, Warsaw.
She was born March 9, 1952, in Martin, Ky., to Verlie (Evans) Hall and Henry Preston Hall. On Nov. 20, 1971, she married Ralph Adkins. Though their marriage ended in divorce, they were blessed with two daughters whose love they always shared.
Jo has spent the last 40 years in Kosciusko County where she made her home and raised her children. She was a hardworking lady and worked for a number of years in the RV industry for Gulfstream. After a hard-day’s work, she was always doing her other favorite full-time job of simply being Mom. Jo loved her family, and she loved everyone’s kids. She kept busy doing one thing or another. She loved gardening, canning and especially cooking. She also enjoyed a nice day of fishing and playing poker with her family and friends. Jo always got things done; she was the type of person that stayed in the background and did the work. If you ever visited her at home, you noticed that she loved rugs — throw rugs, floor rugs, bathroom rugs, kitchen rugs, just all kinds of rugs! Jo also had the sneaky habit of having “a job for you to do” when you visited, and you did it with love. She will forever be remembered for her great smile and servant’s heart. Jo was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend to many who will be missed.
She leaves behind her daughters, Samantha Adkins, Warsaw, Cassandra (Weston) Wilson, Etna Green and her bonus daughter, Cassie Wadkins, Warsaw. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Angelus, Katana, Trista, Skyla, Caleb, Hannah and Braxton; two great-grandchildren, Gracelynn, Maveric and a baby girl on the way; and two brothers, James “Red” (Elizabeth) Hall, Mentone and Teddy Hall, Warsaw; and her sister, Pearl Maish, Warsaw. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Bo, Ken and Ronnie; and her sister, Kathleen.
Jo’s life will be celebrated with a service at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, and officiated by Jerry Wadkins. A graveside service will follow at Palestine Cemetery, Palestine. Friends and family may visit prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
