First Merchants Bank Hosts Big Brothers Big Sisters Match Activity
News Release
WARSAW — Warsaw children enrolled in Big Brothers Big Sisters enjoyed an evening of free bowling and pizza Feb. 7.
The bowling party was funded by First Merchants Bank and hosted by Troy and Connie Galbraith.
“First Merchants Bank is thrilled to have the opportunity to support a fun match event for local Bigs and their Littles. Fun was had by all, and we look forward to being involved with future events,” said Troy Galbraith, vice president, Commercial Relationship manager of First Merchants Bank.
The event was held at Warsaw’s The Bowling Alley, with a total of 50 attendees. Big Brothers and Sisters were invited to bring their Littles along for two free games and plenty of pizza. Troy Galbraith is a Big Brother himself through the Lunch Buddies program, where he visits his Little Brother once a week to share lunch at school, so he knows firsthand the impact a volunteer mentor can have on a child’s life.
“Although Troy recently moved back to the area, he is already getting involved in the community,” said Tammy Smith, who is a long-time Big Sister herself. “He recently became a Lunch Buddy, joined our ambassador committee and contributes financially to support our programs. I am so thankful to our new friend Troy!”
Big Brothers Big Sisters offers a monthly match activity in Kosciusko, which gives volunteer Bigs the chance to introduce their Littles to something new. Currently, the agency is searching for new businesses to host or sponsor the monthly match activity as First Merchants Bank did in February.
The agency is open to new ideas for match activities. To host an event or propose an idea, contact Smith at (574) 306-2178 or [email protected].
