ServSafe Food Handler Course/Assessment Offered In Elkhart County

NAPPANEE — Purdue University Extension Service is offering a ServSafe Food Handler class. The training will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday, March 2, at the Nappanee Public Library, 157 N. Main St., Nappanee.
The half-day training includes a booklet and assessment. The Certification of Achievement is valid for three years. A photo ID with signature, such as driver’s license, state ID, student ID, military ID, employee ID, U.S. green card or valid passport, is required to take the assessment To register with a credit card, visit cvent.me/5rBMrR or to register with a check, visit bit.ly/ServSafeElkhart32 to print out a mailable registration form. Registration deadline is Friday, Feb. 24.
The ServSafe Food Handler course is for anyone who needs basic food safety and food handling training, including home-based vendors, food service workers, volunteers or others who work with food. This course covers basic training.
ServSafe Food Handler satisfies training requirements for HBVs outlined in Indiana House Bill 1149. This program focuses on key aspects including basic food safety, personal hygiene, cross-contamination and allergens, time and temperature and cleaning and sanitation.
This course is not intended for food service managers. To obtain your food service manager certification, you must take the ServSafe Food Protection Manager course and exam. For more information, contact Emily Christ at [email protected] or call (574) 533-0554.
