WARSAW — A Plymouth man was arrested after an instance of alleged battery involving a firearm.
Jerrod S. Childers, 44, 2406 Bitter Root Drive, Plymouth, is charged with robbery involving bodily injury, a level 3 felony; intimidation with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony; domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor; and criminal mischief, a class B misdemeanor.
On Feb. 18, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a Warsaw residence.
The woman involved said she had just returned home and as she was approaching the door to her residence, Childers ran up and got in her face, demanding to see her phone.
Childers allegedly tried to take the phone, which was located in the woman’s crossbody purse, forcefully, causing the purse to become tangled around the woman’s neck and leave painful, visible abrasions.
Childers later discharged a firearm and then chased the woman with the firearm as she ran to a neighbor’s residence. He was unable to catch up with her and subsequently moved his vehicle to a park nearby, out of sight.
Upon arrival, the deputy located the woman’s purse in the area where Childers had been parked and recovered the loaded firearm that Childers had in his possession at the time of the altercation.
Childers is currently being held in the Kosciusko County Jail with a $20,000 surety and $1,000 cash bond.
In the event he is released on bond, Childers cannot possess any firearms and will be subject to pretrial electronic monitoring.
