LARWILL — A Warsaw man was arrested in Whitley County after leaving his young child at a park with no supervision.
Tyrelle Deshawn Hunt, 28, 920 Anchorage Road Lot 41, Warsaw, is charged with neglect of a dependent, a level 6 felony.
On Feb. 12, a Whitley County Sheriff’s deputy was notified of a small child wandering around a park in Larwill with no supervision. When the deputy arrived, he noticed the child was not wearing any shoes or socks.
According to court documents, the child’s diaper was also unchanged and they were shivering. While waiting for medical personnel to arrive, the deputy contacted Child Protective Services to have a caseworker make the scene. About 15 minutes after the deputy arrived, Hunt came to the area and said the child was his.
Hunt told the deputy he and the child were at the park when he received a call saying if he did not get back to Warsaw to retrieve his other two children, CPS would be contacted. Hunt allegedly said he was in a hurry to leave and forgot the young child at the park.
The child was by themselves at the park for approximately 40 minutes. Following this incident, Hunt’s three children were left in the care of relatives.
Hunt was booked in the Whitley County Jail on Feb. 12.
