Hutton Returns To Valley Volleyball Coach Role
News Release
AKRON — Jon Hutton has returned to the Tippecanoe Valley High School head varsity volleyball coach role.
The Tippecanoe Valley Board of School Trustees approved Hutton becoming the coach again at a special board meeting on Friday, Feb. 24.
“I have no doubt in my mind that he will help guide our program to new heights,” said TVHS Athletic Director Sam Sturtevant. “I know he values his student-athletes and pushes them to be great on the court and outside the court. He is a positive coach, gets the most out of the kids, and a great relationship builder. He will do a great job leading this program.”
Hutton has been a head volleyball coach for 20-plus years at various high schools and a club head coach. He served the Vikings previously as head volleyball coach from 1999 to 2009 and as TVHS assistant principal from 2012 to 2018 and has enjoyed a TVHS teaching career running from August 1996 to the present.
Hutton has additional coaching experience, including summer camps for professional development at the University of Notre Dame, Michigan State University, University of Illinois, Purdue University, University of Southern California and multiple camps at The Zone in Plymouth. Other experience includes AAU programs through Outland Volleyball, Northern Lakes Volleyball and Zone Volleyball Club.
“I am very excited to be returning to Tippecanoe Valley volleyball next year as the head coach,” said Hutton. “My first season here was in 1996 with Valley great, Jon Parker, working to build the program he had just taken over. I feel like there is a great culture here and I am excited to be back being a part of it.”
“I look forward to leading the Lady Vikings and taking the program to the next level,” he continued. “I think an important aspect is helping to create an environment to empower players to continue on the path to becoming confident young women.”
