WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested after allegedly forging a check from his former employer.
Christian Michael Renschler, 29, 1830 Hepler Drive, Warsaw, is charged with forgery and theft, both level 6 felonies.
On Dec. 30, 2022, a Warsaw Police officer went to Professional Roofing Solutions & Construction LLC regarding a theft report. Business representatives said Renschler, a former employee, had stolen, forged and cashed a check to himself from the business’ checking account without permission.
According to court documents, Professional Roofing paid Renschler a commission check on June 3, 2022, which showed Renschler was paid $1,005.69. After receiving this check, Renschler quit his job. A business representative later discovered on July 18, 2022, a second, fraudulent check was deposited by Renschler in the identical amount of the earlier commission check.
The Warsaw officer confirmed the check cashed on July 18, 2022, was altered.
On Jan. 18, 2023, the officer received subpoena results from Renschler’s bank account. Information showed Renschler made two remote deposits, each totaling $1,005.69, to his account.
Renschler was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Feb. 22, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
