Spring Cleanup Time At Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery
News Release
WARSAW — The city of Warsaw is asking that all winter decorations that have been placed in or on the ground at grave sites in Oakwood Cemetery be removed as soon as possible to allow for maintenance of the cemetery grounds.
According to the cemetery board’s rules and regulations, grave blankets should have been removed by Wednesday, March 1. Blankets that remain are being removed by cemetery staff and placed near the shop area for owners to claim. Disposal of leftover blankets will be on Monday, March 13.
All decorations for spring, summer and fall must be placed on the monument’s concrete foundation, monument base or on top of the monument. Decorations placed in or on the ground will be removed.
For safety reasons, glass vases and decorations and shepherd’s hooks are not permitted. To obtain a copy of the rules and regulations, visit the cemetery office or go online at warsaw.in.gov.
The cemetery board wants to express appreciation to the family and friends of deceased loved ones for following the cemetery rules; doing so allows the staff to care for the cemetery, the board says.
