Warsaw Salvation Army Donates More Land To Habitat For Humanity
News Release
WARSAW — The Salvation Army of Warsaw has donated another piece of property to Habitat for Humanity of Kosciusko County, its second land donation since 2020.
The lot is located a block to the northwest of the Salvation Army building, 501 E. Arthur St., Warsaw.
In 2020, the local Salvation Army donated a piece of property for Habitat to build on. In October 2022, both organizations celebrated the completion of that home.
“Our team was so excited to see this house go up as fast as it did,” said Ken Locke, envoy and leader of the Warsaw Salvation Army office, in a news release. “We work with people every day who are in desperate need of affordable housing options here in Warsaw, and we are happy to partner with Habitat for Humanity to provide more local solutions to this crisis.”
The first house was Habitat’s 35th house in Kosciusko County, and land is a huge need for the program, according to Ben Logan, executive director of the local Habitat program.
“Land for our homes has become harder and harder to find, let alone afford,” said Logan in a news release. “Without a buildable lot, we are dead in the water on any housing projects. That is why we are beyond grateful for the donation of both lots from the Salvation Army.”
According to Habitat, the lot is big enough to hold a house similar in size to the first home. If the program stays on schedule, Habitat could be building on the lot within two years.
