PIERCETON — A second person has filed to run for a seat on the Pierceton Town Council.

Chauncey Smith joins Gordon Baker in seeking a spot on the council.

“I want to make a difference for the town of Pierceton,” said Smith, who’s running as a Republican.

He is employed by the Kosciusko County Highway Department. Smith has been married to Aleta for 27 years, and they have three sons and seven grandchildren.

He recently retired from the Pierceton fire department after 17 years.

For the 2023 Election, the filing deadline for elected positions for all towns in Kosciusko County, save for Warsaw, Winona Lake and Syracuse, is noon Aug. 1.
