WARSAW — Lighthouse Autism Center will open a second Warsaw location at the site of the former Family Video store.
Lighthouse Warsaw Family Outreach Coordinator Cora Meeks confirmed to InkFreeNews on Monday, March 6, the new location should open in August at 109 E. Winona Ave.
That building has been vacant since 2020. Originally, delivery company Gopuff had plans to use the site.
Meeks said Lighthouse has been looking to expand in Warsaw for some time, having a “pretty extensive waitlist.” The centers provide applied behavior analysis therapy to kids with autism, helping with communication and more.
Meeks said the goal is help kids prepare for school or the next step in their lives, with most kids served falling between the ages of 2-8, though Lighthouse serves up to age 17.
At its location at 1535 Provident Drive, Warsaw, there are 36 kids utilizing services, said Meeks. She thinks the new location may serve about 25 clients, with the same number of people employed there, as one therapist is needed for each child.
