WARSAW — Owner Raquel Hoyt said Glitter Hair & Beauty Supply, 611 Buffalo St., Warsaw, is about women celebrating other women.
Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Glitter Hair & Beauty Supply Friday. Glitter Hair & Beauty Supply also held a grand opening day party.
Hoyt said the store opened at the Buffalo Street address on Jan. 13. Before then, it was on Winona Avenue for a year.
She said she’s big on women inspiring each other. She previously worked in the medical field. Then the COVID-19 pandemic hit and Hoyt said she saw the toll it took on people’s bodies. She was going around trying products for her own hair and saw people doing the same thing.
Due to that, she said she felt it made sense to bring fashion and her skills to her store.
When Glitter Hair & Beauty Supply first opened, the store offered wigs, hair extension, hand ties, beading, sashes, among other things, and they still do. She said the majority of her products are geared toward women, but there are some things that are geared toward men.
Along with a beauty salon, Glitter Hair & Beauty Supply also hopes to put on a whole experience. Hoyt said people can book events like sweet 16 parties and shopping parties.
She also hopes to open up an area called a Selfie World, where people can take pictures with different themes and have music and a place to hang out and have fun.
Hoyt said she’s a vessel. The store is about the women coming in and celebrating each other. God is love and everyone that goes through the door will be loved, she said. She’s had people come in needing something, whether that’s for a medical condition or a little pick me up, and she ended up sharing tears with them. She said people sometimes need a place to reset.
Hours are Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
People can book events through social media like the store’s Facebook page and their website https://glitterbeautysupply.hair/. They can also call 574-376-4204.
