Nappanee Teenager Flown From Elkhart County Accident

GOSHEN — A Nappanee teenager was flown from the scene of an Elkhart County vehicle accident east of Goshen on Tuesday afternoon.
At 3:26 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle accident on CR 34, east of CR 31, Goshen.
A 2012 Chevrolet pickup driven by Timothy Neely, 69, Osceola; and a 2006 Pontiac passenger vehicle driven by Christina Borkholder, 35, Nappanee, were both traveling west on CR 34 prior to the collision..
According to an ECSO accident report, Borkholder was slowing to stop and turn left onto CR 31 when her vehicle was rear-ended by Neely’s. Neely and Borkholder were both uninjured.
A passenger in Borkholder’s vehicle, Treva Yoder, 76, Goshen, was taken to a local hospital for general complaints of pain. A second passenger in Borkholder’s vehicle, Natalie Yoder, 15, Nappanee, was unconscious at the scene and was airlifted by helicopter to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. The report states Natalie was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The crash is being investigated by the Elkhart County Crash Investigation Team.
