Bremen Student Among Indiana Senate Pages This Session
News Release
INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana State Sen. Ryan Mishler, R-Mishawaka, welcomed area students in March as they served as Senate pages at the Statehouse.
Students included Carson Anderson, of Bremen, who attends Bremen High School; Owen Durham, of Mishawaka, who attends St. Joseph Grade School in South Bend and who was greeted by state Sen. David Niezgodski, D-South Bend; and Grant Mishler, of Mishawaka, who attends Marian High School in Mishawaka.
Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the Senate floor and interacting with their state senator.
“This firsthand look at the legislative process is an experience unlike any other and offers students the opportunity to actually witness their government in action,” said Mishler, who represents Senate District 9, which includes portions of Elkhart, Kosciusko, Marshall and St. Joseph counties. “Meeting with students from around the district and teaching them about the Senate is always a joy, and I look forward to seeing more pages next year.”
Students in grades six through 12 participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the legislative session. Groups serve on Wednesdays.
