Elkhart Civic Theatre To Perform “Steel Magnolias” In May
Press Release
ELKHART — “Steel Magnolias” will be performed at Elkhart Civic Theatre’s Bristol Opera House in May.
Performance dates are May 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, and 21.
In Chinquapin, La., all the upper crust ladies go to Truvy’s salon to have their hair done. Helped by her eager new assistant, Annelle (who may be still married), the outspoken, wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoos and free advice to her patrons: rich curmudgeon Ouiser (“I’m not crazy, I’ve just been in a bad mood for 40 years”); eccentric millionaire Miss Clairee, who has a raging sweet tooth; and the local social leader, M’Lynn, whose daughter Shelby is about to marry a “good ole boy.”
Alternately hilarious and deeply touching, “Steel Magnolias” ultimately reveals the strength and perseverance of its quirky characters.
“Steel Magnolias” is directed by Tim Yoder, assisted by Bridgette Faulkner, and includes Stephanie Yoder as Truvy Jones; Leah Tipton as Annelle Dupuy-Desoto; Sharon Weissman as Clairee Belcher; Kristen Kinder as Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie; Janis Logsdon as M’Lynn Eatenton; and Stacey Nickel as Ousier Boudreaux.
Tickets can be purchased online.
