WARSAW — A Leesburg teenager was recently arrested for allegedly having sex with a minor.
Kaleb Scott Dausman, 19, 811 E. 550N, Leesburg, is charged with sexual misconduct with a minor, a level 5 felony.
On Feb. 22, a Warsaw Police officer took a report from a Department of Child Services worker regarding a 19-year-old having sexual intercourse with a minor. In Indiana, sexual misconduct with a minor is a Level 5 felony when an individual at least 18 years of age has sex with a child who is at least 14 years of age but less than 16 years of age.
According to court documents, the information about the case was provided to DCS by a local school employee. DCS interviewed the child, who said they and Dausman were in a relationship the child allegedly described as “consensual.”
The child was then interviewed at the Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center on Feb. 27. During the interview, the child said they had known Dausman for several years and that they started dating in October 2022. The child also said Dausman knew how old they were and that they had sexual intercourse four times.
Dausman was interviewed by a Warsaw Police officer on March 1. In the interview, Dausman said he and the child had been in a relationship for about four months. During that time, he said they had sexual intercourse about four or five times, with the last instance occurring on Feb. 14. Dausman said he knew how old the child was.
For this case, Dausman was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on April 22, with a $10,250 surety and cash bond.
