Sew Special Network Plans May 6 Garage-Sale Fundraiser
News Release
LEESBURG — Sew Special Network of Northern Indiana Inc. will mark its one-year anniversary as a new Kosciusko County charity with a fundraiser.
The group is planning a combination garage sale/upscale resale event from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at 4108 E. Lakeview Trail, Leesburg, in the Stanton Lake Estates area.
Expect to find lots of vintage and new items, including small household appliances, antique toys, sewing and craft items, a rare vintage children’s furniture set of metal folding table and four chairs from the 1950s, and sizes of clothes ranging from big to small and wide to tall.
Sew Special Network was organized by Marsha Frantisak, of Leesburg, who wanted to continue sewing and crafting for charity after leading a group of sewers that made nearly 6,000 face masks during the pandemic. The network is similar to a nonprofit Frantisak formed in Danville, Ohio, before moving to Indiana in 2012.
Sew Special Network gathers donated materials, and members make items to give to other charitable groups. Winter gear for all ages, items for infants and toddlers, and items for hospital, home care, nursing home and homeless shelter needs are made. The group has grown from six to more than 20 volunteers and hopes to expand.
Money raised at the sale will go toward the purchase of necessary supplies and also saving for a “more accessible” place for the group to work, according to Frantisak.
