WARSAW — A Warsaw teenager was recently arrested after allegedly stealing a golf cart and selling it to his friend.
Zion Malachi Lewis, 19, 508 W. Market St., Warsaw, is charged with theft, a level 6 felony.
On April 15, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a report of a stolen golf cart, valued at $3,000. The golf cart was stolen from a Warsaw home.
According to court documents, about five hours after the theft was reported, KCSO received an anonymous tip about the golf cart being at a Claypool residence. One of the home’s residents said his son just received the golf cart from a friend. The son said Lewis gave him the golf cart and gave deputies Lewis’ phone number. Deputies were unable to make contact with him at that time and the golf cart was returned to its owner.
About three hours later, KCSO received a call from Lewis, who admitted to stealing a golf cart and selling it to his friend for $500.
Lewis was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on April 25, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
