SILVER LAKE — The Silver Lake Police Department has a new deputy marshal.
At its meeting on Wednesday, May 10, the Silver Lake Town Council approved hiring Matthew Wynn.
Wynn has worked as a reserve officer for the Claypool Police Department for about a year and a half.
The council set his pay as $20 per hour, with a potential raise after he completes his Indiana Police Academy training.
He will be sworn in after he starts, which is on June 1.
In other business, the council:
- Heard from Town Clerk-Treasurer Tonya Conley that as part of seeking a grant for building a community center in town, she’s wanting letters of support from the community for the project. Town residents and business owners may drop letters off at the town office or email them to [email protected].
- Heard that Conley is working on obtaining playground equipment for both Rambler Park and a new one located along Indian Trail.
- Approved purchasing a laptop for Conley for remote work.
- Approved replacing six lights at Memory Park at a quote of $858 each.
- Heard a reminder that the town’s cleanup day is set for Saturday, May 20, with people asked to put stuff out Friday evening, May 19. Items should be placed in a six-foot-by-six-foot area, with loose items bagged. Items that may not be picked up include: paint, oil, tires, large appliances, extra large furniture, televisions, computers, microwaves, lawn waste, and anything containing freon, unless it has been drained and the item tagged by a service professional.
- Heard a reminder that the town’s rummage sale days are Friday, June 16, and Saturday, June 17.
The council’s next meeting is 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, at Silver Lake Town Hall.
