Jewel F. Carpenter, age 91, of Bourbon, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, in her home.

Jewel was born on Sept. 29, 1931, in Lowell, to Hager and Cassie (Salyer) Minix. She was a longtime resident of the area and retired from Hart Schaffner Marx Clothing, where she worked as a seamstress. She married Roy W. Carpenter on April 17, 1948, and he preceded her in death in 1989. She enjoyed gardening in her spare time.

Jewel will be missed by her daughters, Judy Cole, of Bourbon, and Peggy Bause, of Warsaw; several grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren; her stepchildren, Lake Carpenter; Don (Ruth) Carpenter; and her brother, Larry Minix, North Judson.

Jewel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Carpenter; her sisters, Ora Grob and Blanch Reynolds; her stepdaughter, Charlene Duncan; her stepdaughter-in-law, Elizabeth Carpenter; and her brothers, J.B. Minix and Junior Minix.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2023, in Summit Chapel Cemetery, Bourbon.
