WARSAW — A Hammond man was recently arrested after fleeing from police officers in a high-speed vehicle pursuit.

Samuel Wooley III, 44, Hammond, is charged with resisting law enforcement, a level 6 felony; and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a class A misdemeanor.

On May 3, local officers were advised of a reckless driver traveling east on US 30 from Marshall County. A Warsaw Police officer found the suspect vehicle traveling at 105 mph in a 60 mph zone and a brief pursuit ensued.

According to court documents, during the pursuit, the driver, later identified as Wooley, swerved in between lanes, disregarded a red light, and continued speeding.

Wooley eventually stopped his vehicle but was slow to respond to commands and had poor balance. He pulled away from one officer while being placed in handcuffs.

Officers noticed Wooley was exhibiting signs of intoxication.

At one point, Wooley admitted to an officer that he had been drinking. Results of a certified chemical test are currently pending.

Wooley was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on May 3, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
