UPDATE: Warsaw Wreck Sends Car Nearly Into Home
Staff Report
WARSAW — There were no serious injuries after a vehicle nearly went into a Warsaw home as a result of a wreck on Thursday, May 18.
It happened about 4:35 p.m. at East Center Street and North Tamarack Street.
According to a Warsaw Police Department accident report, Dylan D. King, 16, Tippecanoe, told police he was traveling the wrong way on a one-way street, which was southbound on Tamarack Street approaching the intersection of East Center Street. He was driving a gray 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt.
King said traffic was backed up west of the intersection and a red pickup truck was trying to turn northbound on North Tamarack Street. He said he didn’t see a white 2017 Honda Accord driven by Richard A. Hoover, 37, Syracuse, which was traveling eastbound on East Center Street, due to the line of traffic.
King said he gunned it to get across the road, causing a collision with Hoover’s vehicle.
King’s vehicle then went up on a cement wall and came to rest up against a bush.
A passenger in King’s vehicle had minor bleeding and signed off with medics.
Damage is estimated up to $50,000.
