WARSAW — June is almost here and we here at the Warsaw Community Public Library are gearing up for our summer activities.
Our summer reading challenge begins Thursday, June 1. Register using the Beanstack app or at the library. You can drop in and enjoy Legos anytime from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 2. Drop in again from 10:30 a.m. until noon Saturday, June 3, for Lego Club. These are all popular recurring programs at the library.
Another favorite activity at the library is the Greyt Readers program. Stop by from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, and read your favorite book with one of the greyhounds visiting that day.
Every Wednesday, you can join others at the library while the Lily Center for Lakes & Streams talks about nature and leads the group in some STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) activities. It is a great time to learn in a fun and active way.
Every Thursday (except for June 29), library staff will be at an area park for Stories in the Park. Stories start at 11 a.m. and are followed by games and activities led by the Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department.
The library is excited to offer Pet Week from June 12-16. At 1 p.m. Monday, June 12, a rescued Great Dane will visit and representatives from the Animal Welfare League will talk about the do’s and don’ts of adopting animals. Learn how to care for parakeets and budgies at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 13. Make and take a stuffed animal, complete with adoption papers, at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 14; a fee of $5 is due at advanced registration. At 1 p.m. Thursday, June 15, you can meet a gecko and hear representatives from the Animal Welfare League explain caring for reptiles. Finally, at 1 p.m. Friday, June 16, come to the library to play with kittens while folks from the Animal Welfare League talk about the differences between caring for cats and caring for dogs. Also, library staff will be presenting the Animal Welfare League with donations that have been collected for the group.
A teen Lego building contest will take place at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, June 22. Teens are encouraged to use their creative and teamwork skills. For those who love gaming, Teen Drop-In Zone will take place from 3:30-5 p.m. Tuesday, June 27.
