WARSAW — The Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory board was notified of Lutheran EMS recently receiving two awards during a statewide ceremony.

At a June 6 board meeting, Lutheran EMS Director Alicia Mediano said they received an award for their car seat safety program. A staff member who works part-time as an EMT for Lutheran EMS also received the Dispatcher of the Year Award at an Indiana EMS Association ceremony.

“It’s very good representation of the care this community is given from Lutheran EMS over the years,” said Mediano.

In other business, EMS Chief Chris Fancil said WWFT’s C.A.R.E.S. program is partnering with the National Alliance on Mental Illness to bring the “NAMI: In Our Own Voice” program to Warsaw.

According to a news release, the presentation, which is free and open to the public, “aims to change the attitudes, assumptions, and stereotypes about people living with mental health conditions.”

“NAMI: In Our Own Voice” will take place at the Warsaw City Hall Council Chambers, 102 S. Buffalo St., from 4-5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 8.

Three travel requests for Kyle Martin, Mikaela Bixler, and Aaron Bolinger, were also approved at the meeting.

The board’s next meeting is at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 5.
