PIERCETON — A Warsaw man was recently arrested for allegedly burglarizing a property near Pierceton and stealing items.
Johnny Ray Greene, 60, 5870 S. Woodland Lane, Warsaw, is charged with burglary, a level 4 felony; two counts of theft, both level 5 felonies; and theft, a level 6 felony.
On June 3, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a burglary south of Pierceton. A man said he noticed a door to an attached garage was kicked in and a pole barn door was open.
The man said surveillance footage at the buildings showed two individuals with white face coverings forced the garage’s door open and stole items.
According to court documents, a KCSO detective and other county officers were able to identify one of the individuals as Greene. It was also discovered Greene lived less than one mile from where the burglary occurred.
The detective also spoke with a man who owned the vehicle used during the burglary. The man showed the detective old-style gas pumps Greene gifted to a woman. It was later discovered the pumps were stolen from the burglarized property.
A witness also said they saw Greene place two pedal cars and a leaf blower from the burglarized property in a shed.
The total value of all the items taken was over $750 but less than $50,000.
Greene was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on June 29, with an $11,000 surety and cash bond.
