122nd Fighter Wing Conducting Exercises At Fort Wayne Base
News Release
FORT WAYNE — The 122nd Fighter Wing is conducting a readiness exercise validation at the Air National Guard Base from Monday through Friday, July 10-13.
More than 300 airmen from the wing have been planning and preparing for the event over the last year. Throughout the week they will be tested on their abilities to respond to a short-notice deployment where they will test their skills in a simulated forward operating location.
“The intent of the exercise is to test combat readiness and mission capabilities of the 122nd Fighter Wing,” said Lt Col. Brandi Wallace, Wing inspector general. “This week’s event is designed to increase the combat readiness and confidence of our airmen while they perform critical tasks in a rapidly changing, highly contested and degraded environment.”
During the exercise, the surrounding area may notice an increase in activity around the base and loud noises such as alarms, sirens, loud bangs, smoke and simulated gunfire. The Air National Guard is constantly training to serve the state, nation and local community in times of need.
