Cody Lynn Groninger, 40, of New Haven, and formerly of Disko, passed unexpectedly on Monday, July 10, 2023.

Cody Groninger
Cody was born on March 7, 1983, in Paintsville, Ky., to Danny L. and Kathy Ann (Swain) Groninger. He was a 2001 graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School. Cody had numerous occupations over the years. He had several roles that involved traveling all over the country. His last job was as an installer and crew manager doing epoxy floor installation.
He enjoyed watching the Cubs and Bears, and was a lifelong fan. Cody loved to have fun and was always laughing and joking around. Cody and his daughter enjoyed nature walks, camping, zoo trips and traveling to Silver Beach in Michigan. Maizie was his world. No matter where life took him, you could find him with a smile.
He is survived by his daughter, Maizie Groninger, and her mother, Jamie Rhoton; father and stepmother Dan and Karen Groninger, of Disko; sister, Cori Groninger, of Warsaw; half-sisters, Beth Bahney, of Akron, Lia (Jose) Rosas, of Akron, and Jessica Bentley, of Warsaw; and several nieces and nephews.
Cody was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Kathy Overlander and Lewie Overlander; and by his grandparents, Gordon and Mary Louise Groninger, and Arville “Bob” and Iris Joyce Swain.
The funeral service will take place at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 16, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Orville Haney officiating.
Visitation hours will be held from 2 p.m. to the time of the service on Sunday, July 16, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.
Cody’s future remembrance place will be in the Akron Cemetery, Akron.
