Moo-Over, the only plant-based ice crème shop in the state, invites the public to be a part of the filming of America’s Best Restaurants.

COLUMBIA CITY — Moo-Over, the only plant-based ice crème shop in the state, was selected to be featured by America’s Best Restaurants, a national media company that highlights small, one-of-a-kind restaurants to help spread the word.

“We had to complete a series of interviews in order to be selected for this feature,” says Julie Hurd, owner of Moo-Over. “ABR selected us for our uniqueness — we are the only dairy-free, gluten-free, vegan dessert shop in Indiana. Everything is made in-house,” she added.

ABR can be viewed on its YouTube channel and highlights restaurants on its popular Facebook page. It focuses on small, unique restaurants with the goal of increasing top-of-mind awareness for those businesses and ultimately helping them grow.

What’s even more exciting is Hurd is inviting the community to be a part of the production. Customers are invited to come to Moo-Over anytime between 2-5 p.m. Thursday, July 27 to be part of the video shoot. “We would love for the community to come and share this moment with us,” says Hurd. Those in attendance may be recorded by the production crew, and maybe even interviewed so they can share why they love Moo-Over.

Moo-Over is a gluten-free restaurant located at 207 W. Van Buren St., Columbia City and opened in 2020. The menu features dairy-free, gluten-free, and 100% vegan items including a variety of ice crème flavors, sundaes, shakes, brownies, cookies, pies, and more. It has nine employees.

The video shoot will focus on a few of Moo-Over’s decadent desserts and will touch upon why Hurd started Moo-Over.

Hurd added, “We are excited to bring the spotlight to our shop and to Columbia City. We want to show people that they do have a choice for great-tasting, homemade desserts that are allergy-friendly. We want to spread the word that you have options. Everyone should enjoy desserts! It’s why I do what I do.”
