Fort Wayne Ends Partnership With E-Scooter Company
News Release
FORT WAYNE — Fort Wayne will no longer offer e-scooters as a transportation option after ending a partnership with its supplier due to rising safety concerns.
According to the city, residents and business owners have raised concerns over Veo’s scooters, finding that they were not being used properly or safely.
The Chicago-based Veo is one of multiple scooter companies on the market. The company is now being asked to remove its scooters from the city by Monday, Sept. 4. The city stated that 500 stand-up scooters and 80 seated scooters had been deployed in Fort Wayne most recently.
When Fort Wayne accepted Veo’s permit for a pilot program in 2019, the goal was to provide more transportation options and cut down on traffic congestion. The city said no tax dollars were used to pay for the scooters.
