Mentone Man Arrested For Allegedly Shooting Firearm In Residential Area

MENTONE — A Mentone man was recently arrested for allegedly shooting a firearm in a residential area.
Roy D. Case, 69, 5807 W. Hummingbird Drive, Mentone, is charged with criminal recklessness committed with a deadly weapon and pointing a firearm, both level 6 felonies.
On Aug. 3, officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office and Mentone Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in Mentone. A woman said Case pointed a gun at her home and fired shots into the air.
According to court documents, the woman said two of her relatives were cleaning a vehicle when Case became angry and pointed a gun in their direction. Case then fired two shots into the air and left.
Case was exhibiting signs of impairment while being taken into custody. While searching the scene, officers found shell casings and a handgun.
One of the woman’s relatives said he saw Case wave a handgun around and shoot four or five times into the air.
Case has already been arrested and released on his own recognizance. He has an initial hearing at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, in Kosciusko Superior Court One.
