SIDNEY — Gavin Parrett will be running in the Democratic convention for Sidney Town Council at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19.

The Democratic convention in Sidney will involve four potential candidates: Jack Wolfe, Brandon Allen, Rebecca Adams and Parrett. This convention will determine the three candidates moving into the final election in November.

Parrett will be running for his second term as a town council member.

Parrett has lived in Sidney for the last 11 years. He graduated from Whitko High School before attending Earlham College beginning in 2015, where he received his bachelors in politics in 2019. He is currently working for the town and has considered going to law school in the future. In his spare time, Parrett enjoys playing football and bowling.

When asked why he decided to run again, he said, “I believe if a person is able to help then they should and not a lot of people are willing. I also enjoy being a part of the change occurring and problems being addressed.”

Some goals Parrett hopes to address in his next term on town council include working on sidewalks, increasing accessibility and possibly adding in a park.
